This renowned product came out of the Boots Technical Centre’s open innovation approach to searching for novel ingredients to support the development of skincare, suncare and cosmetic formulations.

No7 Protect & Perfect Beauty Serum resulted from collaboration with a number of raw material suppliers throughout Europe as well as researchers at the University of Manchester.

These academic researchers applied  new test methods for measuring key components in the skin that contribute to skin  ageing , while the European suppliers gave us the potential to work with novel combinations of  exciting new ingredients.

Our team at the Boots Technical Centre then carried out their own development to optimise the feel and look of the product, and to scientifically prove the product reduced the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. With some timely PR this product has become one of the UK’s biggest selling anti-ageing products. It’s a perfect example of open innovation in action.
