Using an internationally-respected salon technology Boots Smooth Skin is a permanent hair removal device which people can use at home. Previously only available in salons the iPulse (IPL) at the heart of this revolutionary device was invented by medical device company CyDen. The handheld version was developed in collaboration with Boots Centre for Innovation.
After many successful years creating hair-removal products for beauty clinicians CyDen presented Boots Centre for Innovation with an early stage prototype for home use. Our team immediately seized the opportunity to eliminate a daily hassle experienced by women of all ages.
While on average women spend some £3,618 and 61 days removing unwanted hair over a lifetime, 80 per cent say they would like to remove hair permanently. Cost is the big barrier as an effective salon treatment on legs, armpits and bikini line can be more than £3,000.
Armed with extensive consumer research we worked closely with CyDen’s designers to develop a small, affordable device that was easy to use at home under the brand name Boots Smooth Skin.
Eighteen months later Smooth Skin has begun a revolution in hair removal and our customers are very pleased with the results. Available in larger Boots stores across the UK it continues to be popular with customers.
